Closed by... vacations? Not true!

Well, the current state of our affairs and the new events make an necessary explanation in my own words, as " the brains " of Flowersongs Time Filters.

Possibly the first thing that you think is something like "what happened with the recording sessions?". Simple: we don't remain satisfied with the result and we decide not lose energy after a first mixing, leaving that tracks in a booth of "never listened, out of FSTF". Often it's very good do these things, focusing in the following step. It's not necessary that everything what you record see the light, after.

Our particular mark III has not given the results for that we were waiting. Sometimes I see that it finds it hard to many people understand that this they are rock songs, but that we do jazz. Oh, yes! Slightly wild jazz, but ultimately it's jazz. This erroneous concept can turn out inside the band, and this is a real problem. This doesn't have to sound as the Miles Davis experiments in the 70, is not my joke.

We are living a intense casting of drummers for our mark IV. A casting opened for possible last-minute incorporations, if you're interested. We have clearly for what battery we bet and the people in our list have a suitable profile, but I would love to meet somebody unknown. Always is good, knowing new talents.

If you are interested, please contact with contact.fstf@gmail.com

But there is something more.

These arrangements were born to have an important harmonic support. When we incorporate a pianist in the band we were looking for a different sound, always an acoustic piano, never something electric in the keys. Ok, that did not work and we will not go back, but we need this harmony again, this serenity.

We have a new musician in Flowersongs. Oriol Miró Caparrós has entered in the band like guitarist, pianist, tres cubano, samplers and programing... and all these little things that we think.

It's a hard work, but Mr. Miró is a very qualified person. Guitarist of rock and jazz, composer of original soundtracks and a very good arrenger. This sounds fine!

Though we "close for vacations" we have a very hard work and we will not stop. This is only a little rest for you and very hard job for us.

We will down to the crossroads

Sometimes life takes us for different ways... in this case is turn for our co-worker and drummer, Toni lledó.

New projects appear in the horizon and they do that we separate our own destinies, closing a cycle in our mad and enterteining gait jointly. A trip full of effort, work and dedication but especially music, where we all have learned and shared something.

Because of it, the FSTF's staff we wish him sincerely a future full of successes and we hope that his talent shines  there, where his steps goes.

Springs Lullaby

We want to share with all of you one of the greatest presents that spring has brough to us: Mr Córdoba, our double-bass player is now rehearsing with a new instrument: a baby´s rattle!

Yes, he´s feelling the joy of fatherhood, and knowing what is happening right now in Spain, particularly in Barcelona, we can assume that his son will be another one of the "children of the revolution".

We want to send our congratulations to Toni Córdoba and Marival and we invite you to shout with us: welcome to the world, little Bruno!

Remembering Koji Dagushi

Remembering, at the way's end seems that only we still have a lot of remembers and feelings.

Last Friday Mr. Koji Dagushi died for sudden cardiac death, an unexpected news of someone young and full of energy and ideas.  A real Jazzman, best pianist, great friend and a whole gentleman.  An honourable and genuine life, an example of fight for a dream, for the music that was sounding in your mind.

Like I said in the last entry in this blog "all or nothing at all". A real reflexion of our lifes.

Concerts, recording sessions, road trips, confidences... nothing gets lost, mon patron. And it's very sad for my to know that we will not have new common moments, but nothing of what we have lived is lost.

I remember you specially, my friend. But also the people in Flowersongs, your band 4in1, la Compagnie des Gitans Creatives, our families... We are many people that we love you. I doubt that nobody who knew you or who has listened your music could forget this devilish and punky japanese of rapid fingers and sharp mind ever.

And, at the end, we don't play with Sakura.

A new sailor in our ship

We can confirm it: from next week R. Mihura will take charge of the new entries in our blog. She has taken part in many decisions in FSTF from the beginning of this trip, contributing with her professional experience and all these funny and creative ideas on presence in Internet, so her inspiration in the texts of our news will be great, sure.

R, welcome to the club. This night plays a very good quintet of elegant cats and this round table in the end always is reserved for our motley crew. You must feel comfy and always free, here we all play the same song.

Like Hannibal was saying "I love it when a plan comes together"

Next week they turn our news. We are making improvements. Thank you for your understanding.

All or Nothing at All

Well, here I go again. With this words into my head and the Coltrane's version in my ears.

I will begin this new entry with a big hug for Delphine Merciel for every hour that she has dedicated to the project FSTF. Delphine has been the person in the haze that has written many of the things that you could have read in this blog, among other things. For work and personal reasons from this last Monday she isn't in the Flowersongs Time Filters Staff.

She's an authentic walking jazz encyclopedia and a person with a lot of talent as well as a great help and friend. Her personal support has been vital in many moments. We will miss her important colaboration.

Thanks a lot, Cerises. Je te dois un dîner au Drouant et je n'oublierai pas ça.

Last week the staff announcing important news in Flowersongs's bosom, ok? Well, now we can say that this studio work is a joint production between Eddie Roca and myself, and Jordi Roca is the sound engineer for it. I'm specially grateful by your support, guys. From now we are going enter to a new stage and a new really enterteining trip and you come in the best moment.

You know that providing that I have written in the blog I done some musical recommendation. I want to speak about Irene Aranda, an Andalusian pianist with authentic talent that for a time is rolling with her own project and that I can affirm it's sure she will provide to all us many moments of intense and really creative music. This girl is in the good's side, really!

Next March 31 and April 1 she will be in a improvisation workshop in the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Motril, in Granada.

Irene Aranda's personal web page: http://www.irenearanda.com/

We come at the end of a stage and we begin other, at many levels. Since always it happens the big changes are waved, but something necessary and good for our personal way.

Possibly the next week let's not have our weekly entry in the blog. Don't worry: it's only something temporal. Very soon you will have our new news... and many other things.

  We're going, we're going, we're going up!
